Referred by driver safety?

Many drivers have been referred by Driver Safety due to various circumstances, such as, stroke, brain injury, vision problems, collision, etc.

We are eager to help you in the process of reinstating your driver’s license.  Our Defensive Driving Specialists offer “Special Drive Test Prep” lessons tailored to your needs.  During your initial lesson, the specialist will discuss the reasons you were referred to Driver Safety and assess your current driving performance and abilities.

The Specialist will offer their professional and non-bias opinion as to whether you are able to pass the DMV special drive test or if you need additional training. Most drivers who are referred to Driver Safety take an average of three lessons.  If you have previously failed a road test, we will analyze the test results and focus on the driving tasks that require improvement. DMV typically allows three attempts chances to pass the road test.

Written assessments

Receive a comprehensive, written evaluation of each lesson.  Assessments are sent via email, USPS – first class mail and sometimes issued directly to the student at the end of the lesson.

To schedule training

You must possess a valid special instruction permit, valid California driver’s license or a temporary driver’s license.

If you haven’t obtained a special instruction permit yet

Start Today!  If you would like the driving school to obtain the special instruction permit on your behalf, complete the “Special Drive Test Application” and pay the $125 correspondence fee.  We will fax and mail a hard copy of the request to the DMV Driver Safety Department.  A copy will be sent to you.  Once you receive the special permit, you’ll be able to schedule your in-car test-prep lessons.  Professional requests from Driving Schools are generally more likely to be approved.

If you already have a special instruction permit

If you have obtained your own special instruction permit or possess  valid California driver’s license, you may schedule your specialized driving lesson now.
