If you received a citation in California and choose to attend in person traffic school, this program is for you. Must have the court’s permission to attend. Most drivers are eligible to attend traffic school every 18 months. Our spacious classroom is a pleasant environment with adult size desks. Course is taught by Defensive Driving Specialist. English only.

Traffic school procedures
- Choose class date
- Fill out application
- Pay $99 fee
- Attend class
- Certificate is sent electronically to court / DMV
Classroom location
Bay Area Driving School Headquarters: Located at 1070 A Street Hayward, CA 94541. Free parking in the Municipal Parking lot on the corner of Maple Court & A Street. Look for the building with a large mural. We are located approximately 2 blocks from Hayward, B-Street B.A.R.T.
Registration
Pre-register to guarantee a seat in the class. Register online, over the phone or in person. We accept credit cards or cash. Walk-ins are welcome if space is available. Call for availability.
What to bring
- Driver’s license or photo ID, required
- Court papers including case or docket number
- Reading glasses, if necessary
Refund policy
No refunds; however, we allow 1 free transfer. Please give 24 hour notice. Additional transfer fee $25.
Traffic school application

Extensions
Most courts will allow 1 extension. Go to the court’s website or call them directly.
Commonly asked Questions
- Is there a test? Yes, there is an open-book test at the end of the class. There are 25 questions. Passing is 70% or better.
- What if I don’t pass? A retest is available, if necessary. The DMV allows 2 attempts to pass the test. Make an appointment for the retest, must be completed within 7 days.
- Will I receive anything after I pass the class? Yes, upon successful completion, receive a “Completion Receipt.”
- Do I have to submit a certificate to the court? No, the traffic school will submit the certificate of completion electronically to the court on your behalf.
- How do I know if the court processed the certificate? Unfortunately, the court does not give you any type of confirmation that they have processed your certificate. Call the court or go in person and ask if your certificate has been processed.
- What is Proof of Submission? This is an optional service. Receive notice from the driving school that the court has received your traffic school certificate. Receive this notice about 2 weeks after course completion. Fee is $9.99.
Additional info
- Late arrivals are not permitted per DMV guidelines.
- There is a 1-hour lunch break.
- Class is in English only.
- If the citation is out of state, contact the court for permission before enrolling. Request an out of state certificate of completion.
