No learner’s permit? No problem!
In-car training
This course is perfect for individuals who are 1) struggling to pas the DMV written test or 2) too busy to visit the DMV to take the test.
Our student license program allows you to drive with an instructor before obtaining your learner’s permit. During the in-car training, we will coach you on written test questions while teaching safe driving techniques. This course is designed to build your confidence and prepare you for both the written and road tests. Please note that you will still need to pass the written test before taking the road test.
To qualify for a student license, you must
- Be 15 years of age or older
- Have never been issued a license or permit from any state or country
- Complete an application at the driving school
- Pass a vision and hearing test administered by the driving school
- If under 18, obtain permission from a parent or guardian and provide certificate of completion for Driver’s Education
Enrollment
- The fee includes Student License which is valid for one year plus your first 2-hr. driving lesson
- Additional lessons are $210
- Enrollment must be completed in person a our headquarters located at 1070 A Street Hayward
What to bring for enrollment
- Birth verification- original birth certificate, valid passport, resident alien card or California ID
- Glasses or contacts – if required for vision test
- First lesson payment- OK to prepay now OR pay in person
- For those under 18 – bring your parent or guardian & driver’s education certificate
- For those under 18 – after you pass your written test, contact driving school so instructor can sign your permit
Health & Safety
At Bay Area Driving School, the health and safety of our customers and community is our first priority. Many changes have transpired since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Student not allowed to take lesson if they ill or experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms (i.e. sore throat, cough, fever, body aches, etc.).
- Vehicle’s high touch points will be disinfected between lessons.
- Hand sanitizer always available in training vehicles.
- Face mask are optional, per instructor’s discretion.
