San Lorenzo Driving Lessons

We love San Lorenzo!  We offer top quality, in-car driving instruction for teens & adults in San Lorenzo.  We also do remedial lessons and assessments for seniors.

Typical lessons in San Lorenzo include practice near the duck pond, Washington Manor, Redwood Christian,  Arroyo & San Lorenzo High Schools.  We often practice on Lewelling, Paseo Grande, Grant, Meekland and Bockman.  When students build more confidence and skill, we will train on busier streets like Hesperian Blvd., Washington, A Street and E.14th Street.      

Hills

You may also get experience driving in the hills of San Leandro and East Oakland – near the zoo.  

Freeways

When ready, drivers will practice on I-680, I-580.

Oakland Coliseum DMV:  Located at 501 85th Ave. Oakland, CA 94621

Here’s some handy information specific to the DMV’s near San Lorenzo: 

• Use extra caution when exiting the DMV parking lot
• Watch out for pedestrians & bicyclists
• Beware of “No turn on red” signs
• Unprotected left turn must be made safely.  Yield to anyone close enough to be dangerous. Applicants will do at least 1 unprotected left turn
• Reduce speed when going over railroad tracks 
• Use extra care when going through blind intersections
• Reduce speed with dips in the road
• When making a left turn with a center turn lane, must signal, check mirrors and look over shoulder prior to entering the center turn lane  
• When making a right turn – be sure to end in the right lane
• Look over shoulder before crossing the bicycle lane
• Consider signing up for a 2-hour DMV review or use our vehicle for the Drive Test.

I had an excellent experience at the "Bay Area Driving School" (Traffic School). Before I even took the course (on-line), I had called them several times and they were so kind and helpful with all my questions. After taking the course, I truly feel like I am a more conscientious driver. I am 71 years old and the last time I studied the driving laws to this extent, I was 17 years old. It's been a "win-win" experience. No one ever wants to get a ticket but if you happen to unfortunately do so… please go to Bay Area Traffic School! I had the pleasure of being supported by the wonderful Erica with each step! Thanks to her unconditional care and support I completed everything in one day! Very cool instructor (John) and very helpful and clam when driving. Being picked up from my house and driving around Oakland made me more comfortable with being on the road and more comfortable around other cars. Angel helped me make my appointment for the driving lesson and it was easy , breezy, and beautiful, 100/10 service!!!!

Erika is a wonderful instructor. Not only is she good at teaching but she also has a great personality that help people feel at ease so students can focus on learning.
